초격차 (super gap)

Recently I read one book about the leader. The name of the book is '초격차' (super gap). The author of this book is Kwon Oh-Hyun (born 15 October 1952) who is Vice Chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics. In this book, he wrote about his opinion for the leader and company management.

The story is very impressive to me. During reading this book, I imagine that if I manage a big company (like Samsung), how I manage and control the company. And, I also think that how I'm a good leader... What kind of things are needed for me? 

 

 

Below things are some impressive sentences in the book.

 

(1) The leader looks like a brain; (micro-management x)

   Q1) Am I acting like a brain?

   Q2) Do I help my members work well?

   Q3) What am I preparing for the future of the organization?

 

(2) 4 types of leaders; proactive, reactive, passive, defensive

   1) Proactive leader; proper rest time is needed

   2) Reactive leader; proper education is needed

   3) Passive leader; change the role

   4) Defensive leader; remove

 

(3) Make 'not-to-do list'

   - Remove unnecessary things

 

(4) Good leader; Brain Busy, Body Easy

   - Make a spare time and good solution

 

(5) Meeting

   - Do not give many instructions, ask many questions.

   - Never hold a meeting for a meeting. (formal meeting X)

   - The meeting starts on time and ends at the time promised

 

This book is helpful to understand the condition of a good leader in South Korea and the culture of Samsung company.
